DEL REAL GARDENS - NURSERIES
The beautiful Nurseries
Gardens have many beautiful promenades
surrounded by roses, pines and thick vegetation.
They also have a small peculiar zoo, where birds
of various species live together with other
representatives of the animal world. The central
fountain offers ducks and swans to admire. The
great esplanade, in the center of the garden
becomes in summer, especially during the July
Fair, the site where concerts, theatre and other
leisure activities take
place. |

TURIA GARDENS
The old
bed of the Turia River which crossed the city
and which is now dry, because its course was
diverted to a new bed after the flood of 1957.
The zone from the October 9 Bridge to the
Shipyards Bridge, has been converted into green
areas and gardens with recreational parks,
facilities for practicing sports and cultural
and leisure complexes such as the Music Palace
(Palau de la Música). They form a real "green
lung" for the city and allow one to wander or
cycle during several kilometers from the
Headwaters Park till you get to the new
monuments and emblematic enclaves of the city:
The City of Arts and Sciences. |

PALAU DE LA MÚSICA
Music is deeply rooted in the
Valencian Community. In all Valencian towns,
there are active music bands with a strong
participation of the population. The Fallas
celebration has helped consolidate music
associations. The Palau de la Música is the seat
of the Valencia Orchestra and one of the most
important music centers in Spain. Although you
can gain access to it by the Alameda promenade,
its principal façade is oriented towards the old
bed of the Turia River opposite the gardens and
some beautiful fountains which offer water,
light and color spectacles. The most prestigious
and renowned orchestras, conductors and
interpreters of the international music panorama
have taken part in the concerts offered by the
Palau de la Música. |

CITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
It is an impressive
architectural space dedicated, as its name
indicates, to arts and sciences. It houses four
singular buildings where avant-garde, creativity
and great visual beauty merge: The Hemisfèric,
Principe Felipe Science Museum, The
Oceanographic Park and the lately inaugurated
Palace of Arts. This great complex includes
exhibit rooms, concert halls, laser shows,
interactive museum, dolphinarium, etc., all of
this surrounded by ample walking areas that let
you admire and enjoy this imposing technology
and futurist complex.
A real city of the
future in an urban park of 350.000 m2 also
located in the old bed of the Turia River. |

CENTRAL MARKET
Its
modernist structure and style make it one of the
most beautiful active markets in Europe. Built
in 1014, it is a unique architectural jewel
which has a total of 8,000 m2 and 959 stalls
that offer the visitor an opportunity to buy
first-quality fresh foods. All the stalls offer
personal and direct treatment. This plus the
hustle and bustle, and the light that invades
the inner part of the premises, make it a
colorful and pleasant place worth a visit when
you are wandering around the old city.
