PALACE OF JUSTICE
This monumental neoclassic building was at
first, the Royal Customs and tobacco factory.
Its main façade has a statue of Charles III by
Vergara. Until not long ago, it still housed the
hearings chambers and administration of justice
activities in the city. Today it has an
institutional character.
PALAU DE LA GENERALITAT
PALAU DE LA GENERALITAT
Seat of the Government of the Generalitat
Valenciana. This gothic building from the 15th
century is of great interest due to the wall
paintings of the Parliament Chamber. The Golden
Chamber and the Gallery of Portraits of the
Kings of Valencia are remarkable. Its unique
coffered ceiling contains outstanding
renaissance elements.
PALACE OF THE MARQUIS OF DOS AGUAS
This magnificent palace, whose
exterior parts have recently been restored, is
the principal sample of the 18th century
splendor of Valencia. Its spectacular marble and
alabaster façade is a remarkable
"churrigueresque" baroque jewel, with
magnificent rooms that still conserve their
original decoration. At present, it houses the
National Ceramic Museum.
VALENCIA GARDENS - BOTANIC
The Botanic is one of the
oldest gardens in the city and one of the best
in Europe due to its interesting and complete
collections of plants coming from all over the
world. With a four-hectare surface, it houses
about three thousand different species and more
than seven thousand specimens of bushes, exotic
trees and palm trees.
MONFORTE GARDENS
Dating from the middle of
the 19th century, a sample of a neoclassical
garden with marble statues representing classic
mythology. They are the only example of historic
gardening preserved in Valencia.
